Playing with colors

I recently decided to get a new 'do and play with some colors. And why not? I don't work during the summer and I won't have any parents looking at me weird for having crazy hair. I haven't colored my hair in over a decade, so I figured, it's time to try something new. And so I went a little wild and followed these pins for inspiration.

I really wanted to go for blue streaks, rather than purple, but I couldn't really find any blue streaks on Pinterest for me to show my stylist. She finally told me, that the blue would end up fading into green and she suggested to go for purple instead. Despite her suggestion, I still pushed blue streaks for my hair. Therefore, we compromised and she added both fashion colors to the blonde streaks she had to create on my hair in order to strip it of color.

She and I couldn't be any more happy with the results as she even took me outside to take pics to add to her Instagram!

And below, are my selfies. It's hard to appear inconspicuous when the neighborhood gardeners keep driving by.

Alhough I probably should've listened to her because two weeks later, my blue streaks are now beginning to fade into green. C'est la vie!
I totally love my new 'do and can't wait to wear it out and about....as long as its not hot, humid, nor raining. Then the color will bleed, I will begin to sweat, and the locks will turn into poof balls.

Have you tried anything new lately?

Ok...so I'll spill the beans...

I've never been quite the frequent writer on my blog, but I like to bring you sunshine and sprinkles whenever I can. It helps me look at the bright side of things, even when my little corner holds a little cloud overhead. Another reason, well, it's because I still like my privacy. I haven't quite told you everything that has been going on. Not just because of privacy, but for fear of jinxing things.

For the last few months hubby and I have been staying at my sister's house. She and her hubby have been uber welcoming to us. I mean, she and I have shared a room for half of our lives and we would fight like crazy. Now, under the same roof, but in different rooms, we get along much better. It may also help that our husbands also get a long like brothers. Overall, the fact that we are here is a win-win for both parties.

Why are we here? Well, we sold our home. Although this part was easy, buying a house has not been easy. We've encountered our share of difficulties with sellers, banks, and appraisers. For the last month a half we had an eye on the perfect house. We spent all the extras to make sure we were on par...and then BAM...it became a no go. What can I tell you other than, its the shits.

So as I sit here complaining of not having enough space for myself, not having my entire closet with me, and not being able to walk around naked in my house...I am also super thankful that I have a roof over my head, that I am able to save some money, and that I get to see my family on the daily. I am also much closer to my sister and my parents than I was some time ago.

So I am sure the right home will come along soon. Because if it is meant to be...it will be.

Until then....we will just keep our fingers and toes crossed.
oh...and do lots of breathing techniques, because my anxiety is through the roof!

My Life: Under Construction

This week was marked with a heavy load of work and some major life changes that have marked the "end of an era". No I'm not preggers, however, life has been (and will be for the next month) a bit more awkward and off...

I will try my best to stay up-to-date with you all, meanwhile, I'll stay back with a bit of blogger writer's block....

I will miss telling you everything that's going on, but I must wait until life is a bit steady and settled.

Tah-Tah for now!

Some people come into our lives...

These are a few quotes that have gotten me through the last few weeks.

"Why compare yourself to others?
No one in the entire world can do a better job of being you, than you!"

"In our time together, you claimed a special place in my heart. One I'll carry with me forever and that no one can ever replace." -Nicholas Sparks, Dear John

"We meet the people we're supposed to when the time is right." -Alyson Noel

"Maybe some friendships aren't meant to be saved. Maybe we're meant to spend a certain part of our lives with certain people, then move on." -Dawson's Creek

"In the end, you always go back to the people that were there for you in the beginning."  -Andie, Dawson's Creek

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
So much has happened...but most importantly..I am officially a "Psychologist" well, at least that's what my job description says I am :) It took a while but the doors finally opened up. The last month has been crazy, but so happy to have a chance at this.

The opportunity to grow was not only given to me but two other friends of mine. One of which ended up moving away :(...but on a good note, more of a reason to travel north to see her! I miss you G!

Hubby and I welcome 2012 partying the night away...the following day, it was not much of a party, but we are starting the new year with a bang....only better things for us to come!

Living Healthy

What does it mean to live healthy?
What does it really mean? Is it all about working out? Is it about eating right? Is it about avoiding bad foods? Hell if I know, but I do know that I am trying.

Ok, so I'm sort of trying. I may not be choosing the correct foods, but I'm sure making an effort to get my cardio in at least 4-5 times a week. I still eat the chocolate, I still eat fried food, but really, maybe once a week (each).

I'm also desperately trying to get my husband in the diet mix since he has joined a bet with 5 other friends on who loses the most wins $500 ($100/person). So I'm making him feel guilty about eating out and forcing him to eat my kitchen concoctions, which are some time, not quite delicious. ha!

The one thing I will swear on is how just switching from sodas to water has changed my life. It is to the point that if I have one glass of soda, I will have a new bulge in my stomach and will have difficulty running the next day!

So if you make a change, any change at all, is to add more water to your diet. To eat from smaller plates so they appear fuller. And to eat with a smaller utensil so that you eat slower. It takes 15-20 mins for your stomach to tell your brain you are full, and by then, you may be double stuffed!

May start reading more of the series for Eat This! Not That! to get more into healthy eating habits!

Big Changes Come FAST!!! Are you ready?

Wow...A phone call can change your life. I should know this, but on August 2010, it was for all the right reasons.  Less than two weeks ago, I received a phone call that answered my prayers from March. Better late than never I say, but I was offered an internship in my county! I was AM excited! This was on a Thursday night, but on Friday I walked in to work and had to break the news. Literary break them, I had to give them short notice.

I had to take it, my post grad program does not guarantee you an internship. If I did not take this opportunity, then I would have to wait until the following year to re-apply. GOD was listening, it was last minute, but it was done.

Watch out world...I will soon be official!

To be 30

It is difficult to predict where life will take you. Just 10 years ago, I had it all planned out. Get my masters, get married, have 2 kids, all before age 30. Wow! Was I wrong.
Today marks 30 years and 6 months of my existence in this little world we call Earth. I cannot even think of the different twists and turns life has taken me!
To sum up the last 10 years, I have met and worked with a bunch of nutty individuals that have made me realize, there are crazier people out there than me. I have also met some of the most caring and most beautiful souls in this world in the process. Midway through my teens, I got engaged and after 2 years, I finally set a wedding date and married my high school sweetheart. Like I said earlier, it's hard to predict your partner for life, but yeah, we are still married! And 6 years later, I am almost done with my Specialist Degree, its taking so freaking long, I might as well just get my Ph.D.!
The last two years have been the best but at the same time not as pleasant in some areas in my life. The changes brought on by my tween idols is what made that pot get shaken up and stirred more than I thought. Above all, I've made some great friendships through it all!
I thank God for my adventures and the people I have met. I also want to thank you, because if you would not have walked into my life, I would not be who I am today. I truly believe that the experiences in your life is what makes you who you are today.
All in all...I celebrated my 30th year with a bang!

Ever wonder what makes you tick?

For me, it has to be the way things work around me. I enjoy positivity and intelligent conversation. Don't get me wrong, I get frustrated easily and enjoy venting to someone I trust.
My husband tells me that I am easily amused, but hey, that's just me loving and appreciating life! Those little things...
What makes you move? I have found that most of my drive comes from intrinsic motivation, but I must admit that extrinsic motivation does not hurt my self-esteem either! I mean, we all enjoy some type of reinforcement right?
I have been been told that I aim to please, but really, that gets tiring sometimes! I have learned to speak my mind and I truly think its an art that I would like to master someday.
Until then, I'll try not to step on eggshells, but I will not put my ass on the line to avoid these. If I end up stepping on one, well, I guess I will come out stronger at the end.
Every mistake is considered a success as long as you have learned something from it, right?!
